We are still asking for parent e-mail addresses. This would serve as a big advantage for you to have news on line as to inclement weather school closings, parent mailings, etc.

Family Involvement Policy
Family involvement and communication are so important to the success of our students here at Bay View. Please take an active role in supporting your child’s education and stay informed of school activities. You can provide this support both at home and at school. Keep in mind that the second half of the school year is as important as the first half- stay involved! Listed below are some of the many ways you can provide this support for your child:
Ways to communicate:

Inform the school of address and telephone changes as they occur.ommunicate throughout the year with your child’s teacher
- Attend parent/teacher conferences and meetings.
- Contact teachers and staff with any questions at 410-996-6230, or use email addresses listed in the Parent Handbook or on the CCPS website (www.ccps.org).
- Become familiar with your child’s homework folders and/or assignment notebooks. Use them to send notes to your child’s teacher.
- Check for and read school newsletters, monthly school calendars, the Parent Handbook, the yearly CCPS calendar, the Home and School Compact, fliers, school email, Connect-Ed messages, and other school information that comes home.
- Respond to school notes, telephone calls, fliers, and surveys in a timely manner.
- Use the CCPS website for school information (www.ccps.org).
- Respond to interim reports.
- Check the Parent Resource table in the school lobby for useful information, and read fliers and posters displayed at school.
Ways to be involved:
- Volunteer at the school, in the classroom, and/or at home.
- Join and attend PTO activities. Volunteers are needed to help at these events.
- Become involved in forming school policies by joining school committees, such as the School Improvement Team (SIT), the Alliance of Students, Teachers and Parents (ASTP), and the BVES PIT Crew meetings.
- Attend open houses to learn about the school and Title 1 benefits.
- Attend Family Workshops.
- Support your child’s efforts by attending school programs and award ceremonies.
Bay View Elementary accepts the Cecil County Public School’s family involvement policy and has aligned its school-level parent involvement plan accordingly. It was developed by a committee of school staff and parents of school students and will be reviewed and updated yearly.
