School Safety!

A key goal for Cecil County Public Schools and Bay View Elementary School is to create a safe and orderly environment for students.  This goal includes the following:

• Creating a safe learning environment that promotes achievement for all students

• 100% of schools will be “safe” in accordance with the definition determined by MSDE in compliance with the “No Child Left Behind Act.”

• All schools will have a fully developed Crisis Response Plan and participate in ongoing safety training with staff and students.

Listed below are Bay View’s Emergency Procedure Codes:

Code Yellow – Proceed with caution
Staff – Lock all doors, move to safe area, and await further instructions.
Students – Follow teacher’s instructions on where to go and what to do.

Code Red – Stop what you are doing and follow “lockdown” procedures
Staff – Bring all students into classrooms/safe areas, account for all students.
Students – Go to the nearest classroom.
