Principals Welcome

To the parents of 6th graders
August 4, 2010
Dear Parents:
Welcome to the Bohemia Manor Middle School learning community. As I begin my 28th year in education and my fifth year as the principal of BMMS, I look forward to working with all of the students and families of BMMS. Your students and our school staff will work together to develop a positive relationship that will make their stay here at BMMS an outstanding educational experience. This valuable experience will prepare your son or daughter to be a valued member of Bohemia Manor High School. As a parent myself, I can tell you that the time will fly by.
The Jump Start Program that was held this summer introduced 126 of our 166 new sixth graders to the building, to their classmates, and to some of our faculty and staff. According to the student and parent surveys that were collected, the staff members, especially Mrs. Megan Frunzi, our assistant principal and Mr. Kyle Longeway our Local Support Teacher, did an outstanding job organizing the program to ease anxieties and to also provide valuable information about our school.
Our 6th Grade/New Student Orientation will be held on Monday, August 23, 2010, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Schedules will be issued, physical education uniforms will be available for $15.00 (this includes the gym locker fee), the NorthBay learning week will be described, and parents will be given an orientation with the opportunity to register for PowerSchool. Parents will need a valid e-mail address and a photo I.D. to register for PowerSchool. PowerSchool is the student information system that will be used by all CCPS elementary and middle schools for 2010-2011. PowerSchool will allow parents to monitor their student’s grades and attendance.
The Open House for all BMMS students and parents will be held on September 16, 2010 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. At that time, parents will be offered another opportunity to register for Power School and walk through an abbreviated class schedule to meet teachers. The web page for BMMS is a valuable resource of activities, coming events, and other school information. It can be accessed from the Cecil County Public Schools’ web page at http://www.ccps.org.
We will mail newsletters home every two months beginning with our September/October edition. We will also send messages over the phone using a service called School Messenger. Please note the list of upcoming dates and activities that occur early in the year. Please note that the first day of school is a Wednesday and dismissal is at 2:48. Students are dismissed at 2:45 p.m. on all other days of the week
A supply list is enclosed to help students get off to a fantastic start by having the necessary materials. Please continue to enjoy your summer. I look forward to working with you to make the BMMS experience for your student an extremely positive one.

Dear Parents:
As I write this letter to say welcome to the 2010-2011 school year, I must tell you how excited I am to begin my fifth year as the principal of BMMS. I want to thank all of you, students and families, for making my experience here such a positive one. I have felt welcomed here since day one and I sincerely appreciate your support as the principal. As I begin my 28th year in education, I am excited about the upcoming school year and look forward to working with all of you to make each student’s education an outstanding experience. This valuable experience will prepare your student to be a valued member of Bohemia Manor High School.
The commitment of our faculty and staff to provide a safe, positive learning environment is second to none. In addition, our staff consistently demonstrates a dedication to continuous improvement and a commitment to students. Please know that we will work hard to address the deficits that have been identified by the MSA data by improving our focus and our monitoring of student progress.
