Principals Welcome

By the time you read this article the first marking period will be concluded. The first marking period officially ended on October 30, 2009 and report cards will be distributed to students on Thursday, November 12, 2009. We will celebrate the accomplishments of our students who have earned honor roll, perfect attendance, and specific effort awards with our traditional Honors Breakfast. The 6th Grade breakfast will be on Monday, November 16, followed by the 7th Grade breakfast on Tuesday, November 17, and concluded with the 8th Grade breakfast on Wednesday, November 18. All festivities will begin around 8:00 a.m. each morning in our school cafeteria.

Our first Student Involved Conference Night will be on Thursday, November 12, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the middle school gym and high school gym. This night will provide parents an opportunity to discuss their child’s progress with teachers, and also provides parents the opportunity to look at specific work samples with their child. This can all be done in a relaxed atmosphere. As we did last year, we would like for students to be part of this conference by sharing with their parents a portfolio of work showing their academic progress prior to conferencing with the individual teachers. The samples of work in the portfolio can then be used as a focal point for the parents, teachers, and student to engage in further discussion during conference night. The Builders Club will provide short-term childcare for younger children during the Conference Night in the front of the media center. Please make every effort to attend this important night because of the valuable communication that will occur betweenyou, your child, and your child’s teachers, but also to help us reach our School Improvement Goal of improving our community involvement.

Our Drama Department of Bohemia Manor Middle/High School led by Ms. Kopec will be offering a matinee for the show “Fall - One Acts” on Thursday, November 12, from 3:30 to 5:30. This will allow parents and students to attend the drama production and then participate in the Student Involved Conference Night.
