Principal's Comments
Dear Calvert Families,
Welcome back to school! I am very pleased to inform you we had a great turnout for our Ice Cream Social on Monday, August 23 for students to meet their teachers and have some Kilby Cream. All the students I talked to told me they had a great summer and are looking forward to the year starting.
We had quite a summer at Calvert! Our construction project has completed phase 2 and all of our 15 classes are in new rooms! The new floor has been finished in the gym and our cafeteria has been enlarged. Phase 3 is currently underway, which will be a remodeling of our media center, nurse’s office, and art room. During the fall, we will be getting brand new play equipment for recess. At some point during the winter, the project will be finished. We’re very excited about that!
We are in our third year of being a Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports (PBIS) school. We’ve had great success with this program and are looking for that to continue. A brochure all about PBIS will be sent home to explain all about it. We added some new staff members this summer. Rita Dixon-Paraprofessional, Paul Humphrey-Band, Laura Michalowski-Strings, and Andy Phillips-Custodian are all new to Calvert this year. Please join me in welcoming them into our Calvert family.
I am really looking forward to this school year! I anticipate nothing but continued success for our students as they continue their educational journeys. See you at school!
