Language Arts - Fifth grade is working hard to learn about heroes, some well known,  who have overcome obstacles and challenges to do their personal best. As our winter holiday draws near, we will begin reading, writing, and analyzing poetry. This is a perennial favorite with students. Look for specific information about our annual Poetry Reading in our December update.

Math - Students have finished decimal numbers, and will begin a small unit on plane geometry, and then begin fractions, decimals and percent.

Social Studies - Students had a great deal of fun learning about past presidents, and the candidates, through this election season. We are now going to begin to learn about the exploration of the Americas.

Science - Fifth grade, for the second year, is going to study the parts and functions of  plant and animal cells. We got a great introduction on our field trip to Fair Hill Nature Center, when we collected water samples and examined them through microscopes.

Conference days have gone very well,  and we thank you for your participation.
