Meet Our Principal - Mrs. Linda Haske

 

Mrs. Haske is returning to Charlestown after a six year absence. She was an IST teacher when she was here before. We are very happy to have her return as our principal.

 

 

Principal's Corner

            During the weeks of April 1 – 10, 2008 the students in grades 3, 4 & 5 will be taking the Maryland School Assessment (MSA). Our students have worked very hard to prepare for this assessment and we appreciate the effort the students have demonstrated. It is our desire to see our students perform to the highest level of their ability.

            Here are some important items that will contribute to students doing their best.  Your child will need:

• At least 8 hours of sleep each night
• Breakfast every morning
• To arrive at school by 8:45AM each morning

       It is important that you try not to schedule appointments for your child during the mornings of testing. (Testing usually ends by 12:00 noon.) It is important that the student attends school on the test dates so that he/she may take the test with his/her class. Listed below are the grade levels and the days on which they will be taking the MSA.

• Grade 3:     April 3, 4, 9 & 10
• Grade 4:     April 1, 2, 7 & 8
• Grade 5:     April 1, 2, 7 & 8

Tobacco Prevention News
As part of our ongoing efforts to promote a tobacco-free lifestyle, we have a special activity planned for April.  We will be decorating t-shirts with anti-tobacco messages.  The t-shirts will be decorated in school and will be worn on Fun and Fitness Day, May14th.  We are asking that each child bring in a non-printed t-shirt to decorate, preferably white.  The t-shirt does not have to be new, just plain.  Please label your child’s shirt and send it to school by Friday, April 18th .  Thank you for your cooperation.
