Grade Level News
Happy New Year! As we head into 2007, our fabulous fourth graders are setting new goals and scoring and soaring high. In math we are wrapping up Unit 5: Map References and Angle Measurements and are trying our ‘chances’ at Probability and Fractions. As we ‘roll’ into Unit 6, help your child make connections with fractions in their everyday life, especially food! Playing games of chance with spinners and dice is a great way to reinforce fraction and probability concepts!
In reading we are experiencing fantastic tales ranging from the mysterious to the hilarious in our Theme: That’s Amazing! Students will read stories with fantasy, phenomena, percep-tions, and problem solving from authors such as Chris Van Allsburg, John Scieszka, and Roald Dahl. Encourage your child to continue reading at home and be sure to ask about their new SRI score and proficiency level at the end of the marking period.
We are flowing into our new science unit, Land and Water. Students will be forming land and experiencing the effects that water has on land in our stream table models. Students tend to love getting dirty and wet, while learning new science concepts. In Social Studies, we are continuing with our Explorers Unit.
As always we appreciate your continued support and wish you and your family happiness and success in the New Year!!!!
