Grade Level News
We are looking forward to an exciting new year!
Third grade will begin a new science unit, the “Physics of Sound”. We will investigate the fundamental principles of how sound travels and some of the physical characteristics of the energy form we call sound. We will investigate pitch and volume.
In math, we will continue working on the concepts of multiplication. Fact tests will be given weekly. Please encourage your child to practice multiplication math facts about 10 – 15 minutes every night, until your child has mastered all of the facts from 0 – 12.
In reading, we will continue with Theme 3, “Incredible Stories”. These are fantasy stories with elements that are “Too Wild to be Believed!” Other theme-related books you may enjoy include…
- The Best Place by Susan Meddaugh
- Jamanji by Chris Van Allsburg
- The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by
Jon Scieszka - Martha Blah Blah by Susan Meddaugh
- Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs by
Judi Barrett - A Day with Wilbur Robinson by
William Joyce
We hope you enjoy sharing these books with your child. Please continue to encourage your child to participate in the Pizza Hut sponsored “Book-It” program. As always, thanks for your encouragement and support.
