W- Waffle Pad –

One of the many pads worn by the goalie. It is a large rectangular pad worn on the front of the goalies stick hand.

Y- Yzerman, Steve-

A captain for the Detroit Red Wings. During a 13 reign as the star of stars in Detroit he racked up over 500 goals. Then in 1998 he was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy for the most valuable player in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Z- Zamboni –

A large machine used to clean the ice in between periods. It has a large heater, which melts the top rough layer of ice forming a new smooth one.
