Jumps are also important if you’re looking to be a cheerleader. Toe-touches, Herkies, Pikes, Tucks, Spread Eagle, and Hurdles are just a few of the jumps learned in cheerleading. Before you can do these jumps you have to learn the right prep (preparation). All jumps begin the same way. First, you stand up tall, feet together and someone would call the name of the jump if you were doing the jump as a team. For example, someone would say something like “Toe-touch ready? Then you would clap and bend at knees still having you feet together. Next, you would jump up and hit a high v while standing on your tiptoes. After that bend at knees and swing arms in an inward motion. Finally, jump up and do the toe-touch. Remember to pull up your weight and point your toes. When you land, bend at knees and have your arms down by your side and stand right back u with a smile on your face and hands on your hips! |

| It is very important that you stay stiff when punching out the motions. If you are on a team, doing a cheer then it looks a lot better if all the cheerleaders are synchronize and stiff when hitting their motions. If all the cheerleaders are off beat then the cheer looks sloppy. That’s is another reason to punch out your motions as tight as you can! | ||||||||||
