Medical Concerns

One disease that Chihuahuas and some other dogs can get, is hydrocephalus. Hydrocephalus is an abnormal amount of fluid around the brain causing an enlargement in the head. Also, it is a congenital disease, which just means that it may get it from it's parents, or some other relatives. It's not the worst thing that could happen, because in some cases, it may be severe, or in some cases, it may not be that severe.

One other medical concern is sometimes they may have some hip and knee problems due to some of them being overweight, just like people, and some other dogs can have this problem. You see, with bigger dogs, it's different and if they become overweight, they will not really have this problem, because it is worse for small dogs, because they are so small and they can not handle the weight.

Also, dogs can get STD's just like humans can. That is why if you ever want to breed your Chihuahua , you need to make sure that the male or female is vet-checked, so that your dog does not get any kind of STD. You don't want your dog to get sick, because it could be deadly if it has any std's.
