Land Mammals, Reptiles and Insects

| There are many animals in the rainforest. My personal favorite is the giant anteater, but you can pick your own. There is also the owl monkey, the lesser anteater, the ocelot, the capybara and many more. You don’t want mammals; there are boa constrictors, beetles, lizards, geckos, spiders, leafcutter ants, owl butterflies, and Fer De Lance snakes. I could go on for hours the trees home many animals for the snakes and the monkeys alike. | |||||||||||

This is a very interesting subject, so I’ll give some details. The Fer De Lance snake is a venomous snake, and dangerous snake, the way it tracks its prey is that it has a special l heat-seeking organ in its head. The Anaconda snake also lives in the Rain forest, the longest one found as of 1999 was 17.5 ft. long, and the heaviest one was 214 lb. The monkeys also live in the trees and unfortunately some die and end up as dinner for humans being that have settled there for it’s tropical weather, beautiful scenery, and abundant water supply. These monkeys include the Black Spider, Woolly, and Howler monkeys. Then there are also nocturnal monkeys that have really big eyes. Other nocturnal animals are owl monkeys, ocelots, lyre-tailed nightjars, bats, lesser anteaters, and tapirs. Even during the day the rain forest floor is very dark, and it’s a “pale green light” when any gets through the thick foliage. Because of this there are few plants on the floor which makes animals have to adapt, making them climb trees, fly, become carnivores, or swim. These are only some of the animals in the abundant Amazon Rain forest. |
