| There are many things In the Amazon River and in the air over the Amazon rain forest there are also amphibians. There are probably one, two, or three animals you think of when the rain forest pops into your head. One is usually a monkey or gorilla, one is usually an insect or macaw or toucan, and the third one is a tree or poison dart frog. It has frogs from one-sixteenth of an inch to thirteen inches long. Many tree fogs live in bromeliads in the trees, henceforth their name. Tree frogs have been around close to the dinosaurs’ time, and are usually what we think of frogs, in a pale green color. Then there are their brightly colored relatives the poison dart frogs. They are small bight and deadly poisonous, no wonder people think about them with the rain forest, for it is mysterious, beautiful, and possibly dangerous. | ||||||||||

There are other things that live in the Amazon Rain Forest and Amazon River. One is the Orboto, even though the Pink River Dolphin is technically a mammal it lives and eats around fish in the river. It looks different then a regular dolphin though because it’s neck vertebrae is not fused. Two other aquatic creatures I shall mention, one is the Piranha it is a fearsome flesh eating fish. The other is the Tambaqui it has a very, very strong jaw. |

| There are also birds in the Amazon Rain Forest. One of the most well known birds is the Toucan, with it’s majestic and large beak, it does make a statement. The other best known bird is the Macaw or what people would think of as a parrot, it is brightly colored and usually red. One of the less known but interesting animals is the Lyre Tailed Nightjar. The rainforest does have truly magnificent animals. | ||||||||||
