Animal Experimentation

Most people take the side that animals should be equal to humans.  Though some people believe the benefits of research is more important.  Some people ask others to think about this: Is it wrong to use animals, if using them is the only way to end suffering.  Well maybe it isn’t the only way to end suffering.

In 1994, 49,000 monkeys were used in experiments for Aid’s research and vaccine development.  54,000 cats were used in experiments for vision research.  180,000 dogs were used in experiments for heart surgery research.  Finally, 15 million mice were used in cancer research, and safety testing of new drugs. That’s a lot of benefits, but a lot suffering.

Drugs can be tested without animals, though it’s tough.  It is possible to make safe cosmetics, without using animals.  If you take a drug, it’s your risk. If people feel unsafe, they should avoid it. People against animal experimentation ask scientists this one question: What do you care more about; Animals or the product you are testing.  If you ask yourself that question, you’ll probably say that you care more about the animals; but it’s for you to think about it.
