Does hunting harm wildlife? Humans have always hunted animals, so why is it wrong? They have since the cave man days. Though some hunters wipe out buffalo and deer herds. This is why some species of animals are so close to extinction. Laws have been passed to preserve wildlife. Some people think it helps wildlife. For example, deer eat all their food in winter; then die in starvation when they are all out of food (note that that is an opinion, not a fact.) Also a healthy herd loses 40% of members with no ill effects on its’ future population. In 1920, 500,000 white tailed deer were in the U.S. Now there is 16 million deer, though that could be because laws were passed; so hunters couldn’t over hunt. Some people are against hunting, because they feel it harms wildlife. They believe that the animal population is controlled by natural factors, such as food, space, and parasites. Some hunters kill an animal’s main predator, so they have an excuse to kill the animal that is now over populated. Just think about. Would a hunter kill a sick deer to take home to eat? Probably not. |
