Appearance
Ancient Egyptians took great pride in their looks. Most Egyptians shaved their heads and wore wigs. Wealthier people wore more elaborate wigs than poorer people. Egyptians also painted makeup made from oils and natural resources on their lips, eyebrows, and their cheeks. Wealthy people had polished bronze mirrors so they could look at their reflections. Poor people looked at their reflections in the water. People kept their makeup in special jars.
Clothing
Egyptians only wore linen. White was basically the look. Wealthier people wore special linen that was softer and whiter that other linen. Pharaohs had dyed their linen different colors so it would be prettier and nicer.
Jewelry
Egyptians wore some of the most beautiful jewelry that you could ever imagine. Though they didn't have a lot of metals, the bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and crowns were very elaborate. Jewelry was a crucial element to their looks. Every one wore bangles on their wrists, ankle bracelets, necklaces and earrings. Wealthy people's jewelry was made from gold and many kinds of semi-precious stones such as, emeralds, pearls, and rubies.
Hair
As mentioned earlier, most Egyptians shaved their heads. If they didn't they would have all sorts of bugs in their hair! Which is very unpleasant, also considering the fact that they had no hair products as we do today. Most people wanted their hair to be long and flowing. So that's what you got.
Teeth
Egyptians could have benefited from a trip to the dentist. Everyone, rich or poor, had problems with their teeth. They suffered from cavities, inflamed gums, and infections. If you were living back then you'd be lucky to be 12 years old and have only 3-7 teeth left! So when you have to brush your teeth, remember that at least you have teeth to brush! It did matter how rich you were because if you were rich the food that you ate would not have lots of sand in it compared to the food the poor ate. The sand in your food would wear down your teeth so that they would be small and jagged.
