Tom Paine did a lot of great things in his lifetime. One of them was helping with the principles of the United States.

He wanted to fight for England so he went to see (before the Revolution). His experience helped with going to war for America.

In the war, he was led by General Washington. He fought until his enlistment was up. After that he refused to take more than $48 for his expenses.
