asking the questions you need to explore

You are conducting research to find the answers to key questions about your person's life. You need to write a well-developed paragraph in response to each question. You may choose to use all of the following questions to guide your research OR you may substitute ONE question of your own for any single question from 2-6. (If you substitute your own question, please remember to have it approved by your teacher.) You must research questions 1 and 7. Organize and record your findings on the note cards provided by your teacher.

1. What are the key facts about this person (birth, life accomplishments, death)?

2. What significant events, people, places were important to this person?

3. What obstacles did this person face and how did s/he overcome them?

4. What risks did this person take?

5. What personal qualities best characterize her/him?

6. What is this person's impact on the world today? Why is this significant?

7. Choose one essential question from the three listed below. Answer it for your person and support it with information you uncovered in your research.

  • What characteristics do individuals need to realize their potential?
  • In what ways do people impact others?
  • How complete are depictions of people in biographies/ autobiographies?
