Writing to Inform - Feature Article

- My paper is well developed, and I have more than enough information to inform the reader about the topic. My topic is clearly presented with much elaboration. There are plenty of specific details that more than adequately explain the subtopics. My project is clearly organized and doesn't stray from the topic. I write for the intended audience. I frequently use language choices to maintain a style or a tone.
B: 89%-80%
- My paper is fairly well developed, and I have enough information to inform the reader about the topic. My topic is clearly presented with some elaboration. There are some specific details that adequately explain the topic, but some of the details may not help explain. My project has an organization, and I try to stick to it. I write for the intended audience. I use language choices to maintain a style or a tone.
C: 79%-70%
- My paper has some development and a sufficient amount of information. My topic is adequately explained, although some of my information might interfere with my explanation. I use details, but a few may be the wrong details or may not help to explain the topic. I write for the intended audience. I do not really make any language choices to help with style or tone.
D: 69%-65%
- I read the prompt, and I try to write a response. I write very little, and what I write is confusing or inaccurate. If I have details, they are not enough to explain the topic. If I do have an organization, it is not clear or I stray far from it. I may not address the intended audience. I do not use any language choices to help with style or tone.
F: 59%-50%
- I do not write enough to be evaluated or I do not write anything.
Writing to Persuade - Editorial

- I identify a clear position and fully support or refute that position with a detailed argument that incorporates relevant personal and/or factual information that is consistently purposeful. I use an organizational plan that is logical and is consistently maintained throughout the article. I clearly and effectively address the needs and characteristics of the audience. I consistently use language choices to enhance the text.
B: 89%-80%
- I identify a clear position and support or refute that position with an argument that incorporates relevant personal and/or factual information that is usually purposeful. I use an organizational plan that is logical and maintained. The plan may have some minor flaws that do not affect the persuasiveness of the argument. I clearly address the needs and characteristics of the audience.
C: 79%-70%
- I identify a position that may lack clarity, and support or refute that position with an argument that is generally maintained. The plan includes some flaws that affect the persuasiveness of the argument. I attempt to address the needs and characteristics of the audience. I sometimes use language choices to enhance the text.
D: 69%-60%
- I identify a position with irrelevant personal and/or factual information to support that position, or I present inadequate information to support a clear position. I use a weak organizational plan that is minimally maintained. The lack of organization makes the argument non-persuasive. I do not address the needs of the audience. I seldom, if ever, use language choices to enhance the text.
F: 59%-50%
- I do not write enough to be evaluated or I do not write anything.

- My writing might have some errors in spelling, capitalization, and punctuation. The sentence formations I use are generally clear and understandable. My grammar and usage are appropriate for this type of writing. Errors I may have do not interfere with the reader's understanding.

- My writing has errors in spelling, capitalization, and punctuation, and some might be repeated throughout. I try some sentence variation, but my sentence formations might not be clear. I have some errors that may interfere with the reader's understanding.
