| Writing: 3.8.1 C use strong, precise, and appropriate language. 3.8.1 D develop and support topic, main ideas, and all statements and claims with relevant anecdotes, descriptions, facts, statistics, specific examples, and/or personal experiences. 3.8.2 A identify topics, ask and evaluate questions, and develop ideas leading to inquiry and research. 3.8.2 B understand and use organizational features of printed text such as citations, bibliographic references, and appendices to locate relevant information. 3.8.2 C use appropriate traditional and electronic library resources to retrieve and verify information for specific purposes. 3.8.2 D give credit for both quoted and paraphrased information in a bibliography using consistent and sanctioned format and methodology for citations. 3.8.3 A use criteria, feedback, and checklists to assess, self-evaluate, and refine writing. 3.8.3 B revise writing to improve organization, sharpen focus, and refine language as needed to enhance communication. 3.8.3 G prepare writing for publicaton using electronic resources (e.g., word processing, spreadsheet software) to create charts and graphs that enhance the final product. 3.8.6 B elaborate and support logical arguments with detailed evidence, examples, and reasoning differentiating between fact and opinion. 3.8.6 C refute multiple arguments from the opposition. Listening: 5.8.1 A - self-generate a purpose for listening. Speaking: 6.8.1 C create visual aids (e.g., filmstrips, videos) to support presentations (e.g., original dramatic presentations, Readers Theatre). 6.8.2 A support a position that responds to the audiences needs through appropriate details and organization (e.g., logical order, problem/solution) 6.8.3 A generate and use criteria (e.g., introduction, organization, clarity of content, conclusion, managed time) to evaluate oral presentations and discussions. |
