Simple machines also help you change the direction of the force or work with a faster speed. You probably never think about how simple machines make your daily life easier, but they do.
What is a complex machine?
A complex machine is a machine made up of at least two simple machines. Think about an automobile. It is made up of gears, pulleys and levers. A bicycle is a complex machine made of gears and sprockets or wedges. What simple machines can you identify in a pencil sharpener?
A roller coaster and typewriter are other examples of complex machines that are composed of two or more simple machines. A lawn mower, food mixer, and power tools are more complex machines we use in our daily lives.
