Task

You are an actor auditioning for a part in a Hollywood movie. Steven Spielberg is writing a screenplay for the sequel to Elizabeth (Renaissance movie). You need to study for the part by researching the Renaissance traditions, values, and social structure. Over a period of time, you will complete three activities that will better prepare you for the role.

First, you will be writing an Extended Constructed Response (ECR) comparing the social values/ traditions of the Renaissance to the modern world. This is important because the best actors study the life of a character in order to bring that character to life.

Next, you will create and present a collage that illustrates what you think are the most interesting facts of the time period. This is important because an actor must have a strong understanding of the time period in order to create a performance that will bring the vision into reality.

Your final project will be to use your knowledge of the time period to perform a character sketch of a Renaissance person from a certain social class. This character sketch will be part of your audition.

To guide your research, you will be using the Student Research Guide. Good luck and have fun!
