TEACHER OF THE YEAR NOMINATIONS BEING ACCEPTED

Nominations are now being accepted for the CCPS Teacher of the Year.  This program recognizes teachers who deliver high quality daily instruction to their students and set high expectations for themselves, their students, and their school.  Students, colleagues, parents, administration, community leaders, and others are encouraged to submit the name of a quality educator who represents the best of the teaching profession.
 
ELIGIBILITY:  Nominees must be a full-time classroom, resource, or media teacher who spends the majority of their time teaching.  School counselors are ineligible to participate.  Nominees must plan to continue to teach at CCPS through the 2017-2018 school year, have completed a minimum of five years of successful teaching, and be able to attend all county and state TOY events.
 
IMPORTANT DATES: 
  • February 17, 2017 - Nomination packets due by 4:00 p.m. (Packets may be uploaded to the Teacher of the Year 2017 file in Google Drive.)
  • February 23, 2017 - Nominees information meeting
  • March 16, 2017 - Reception to meet nominees and Selection Team members
  • March 30-31, 2017 - Nominee interviews with Selection Team members 
  • April 5, 2017 - CCPS TOY Gala Event
  • May 2017 - State TOY luncheon at MSDE
  • September 2017 - State TOY finalist interviews at MSDE
  • October 2017 - State TOY Gala at Martin's West in Baltimore

ORBITAL ATK CLASSROOM GRANTS

Orbital ATK is accepting applications for their 2017 Classroom Grants.  The grant is open to all educators within the county.  See the attached brochure for additional information.
 
  

LOWE'S TOOLBOX FOR EDUCATION GRANT APPLICATION PROCESS NOW OPEN!

The Spring Cycle of the Lowe's Toolbox for Education grant application process is now open.  Applications deadline is February 9, 2017.  To apply go to:   http://www.toolboxforeducation.com/hta.htmlThe application process is online and easy.  Below are some quick tips for completing your application (taken directly from the Lowe's website):
 
  • Pick a project which meets your school's needs and your parent group's mission. Your project must be completed within one year of receiving the grant.
  • Compile your application information in a Word document. This will enable you to easily edit the information and check the character count. You can also cut and paste the data from the Word document into the online application, making the submission process easier.
  • Assign a main contact for the project who will be available throughout the entire grant process, including the implementation of the project should the grant be awarded.
  • Provide as many details as possible. Incomplete applications will be disqualified.
  • Apply early! You can submit your application anytime during the grant cycle.

    SPECIAL OLYMPICS NORTH AMERICA COACH OF THE YEAR NOMINEE 

    Chrissy Webster, PK-12 Instructional Coach for Cecil County Public Schools, will be honored on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis, MD.  Chrissy is representing the State of Maryland as a nominee for the SONA - the Special Olympics North America Coach of the Year!   Chrissy's past and present coaching has been at North East High School. She has coached include corollary bowling, corollary bocce ball, and corollary tennis.   Congratulations Chrissy on a job well done!
