A Message from Ms. Clark…

Thank you for assisting us in welcoming the students back to school with flexibility and patience. Every new school year brings several weeks of adjusting and establishing routines at school and at home. The children have helped the adults at Kenmore as well as each other. Their respect and signs of responsibility are only possible when you are positive and upbeat with them and when you take the time to call us to share any concerns that you may have. It looks to be a very exciting year. As we reflect we seem to find things that we would like to share with you.

ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL PROCEDURES – Thank you for your help in making our arrival drop-off and dismissal pick-up procedure efficient and safe. We are quite pleased with having it in place. The only reminder we have is that when you drop students off in the morning that you remember they may enter the building at 8:45 a.m. Several students have been dropped off prior to the beginning of our car loop drop off time; it is critical that all families follow the procedure and drop children off beginning at 8:45 a.m. only.

BIRTHDAYS – We celebrated our August and September birthdays on September 18th. The children were treated to homemade cupcakes, juice and a good bag full of awesome treats. We thank Mr. and Mrs. McLaughlin for the incredible treats they provided and for the time it took to prepare everything. We thank Mrs. Selestok for helping with the celebration and our PTO for funding such a wonderful school birthday treat for our students. Remember we celebrate birthdays one time each month. Get ready students if your birthday is in October; your celebration will be October 16th!

DESTINATION IMAGINATION – If any parent would like to establish a team of students from Kenmore to participate in Destination ImagiNation Program please contact Mrs. Kluge in our Media Center. Creative problem solving competitions, such as Destination ImagiNation provide students an opportunity to participate on a team in a hands-on, creative problem solving process. This is an important facet of the extra-curricular activities of many students in Cecil County.

PTO – Be sure to review the PTO flyer attached. Look for PTO information in each of our monthly newsletters, too. Remember it is not too late to join the PTO and support your child’s school events. Included with this packet is a simple survey for you to complete to help us plan PTO topic discussions this year. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey and return it to school with your child.

SCHOOL SCHEDULE – It is important that students arrive to school as close to 8:45 as possible so they are prepared to begin the instructional day. For your information our school schedule is:

8:45 AM - Children admitted to homerooms. Breakfast program begins.

8:55 AM - All students must be in their homerooms. Opening Exercises begin

9:00 AM - Instruction Begins
