Fabulous First Grade February News
GRRRRRRR! It’s March and you know what they say, “It comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb”
In Language Arts we are continuing Theme 7 called “We Can Work It Out”. Students will read stories about solving problems, sharing, and cause and effect. Some of the stories are That Toad is Mine, Lost!, and If You Give A Pig A Pancake. The next writers workshop is on writing a description. Students are asked to bring in a toy small enough to fit in their book bag and be stored in their lockers while we are doing our writing. Be on the lookout for more information about this project.
In our math unit we will are concentrating on fact power and strategies for addition and subtraction. The students have learned many games and strategies they can share with you at home. We will soon be starting our Geometry unit. Students will learn the names of 2D and 3D shapes.
Remember, as the weather gets nicer and spring sports get started, it gets harder for students to remember their homework assignments. You can help your child remember by having a set homework routine and reminding them in the morning to make sure their book bag has everything that is due. BAAAAAA!
