Kindergarten

The third marking period has been very busy full of many learning opportunities.  In reading we have been working hard learning how to read.  We do this through guided reading, phonemic awareness, and vocabulary books.  Your support at home reading the take-home books and practicing vocabulary words has really made a difference.

In math we have learned how to count to 100 and we celebrated the 100th day of school in a big way!  We also have become quite proficient at adding and we will be working on subtraction soon. We have worked on counting money but that is a difficult concept.  Any help at home using and counting money would be helpful.

In science we learned about landforms and the food pyramid.  Later in April we will learn about air and we will grow painted lady butterflies in our classroom.  We look forward to our trip to the Philadelphia Zoo on May 12.

Even though the school year is winding up, we have many skills to teach until June 16.  Please continue to support your child in doing their homework and continue to send book bags and folders to school everyday.
