KINDERGARTEN NEWS

In February, the kindergarten classes enjoyed a few celebrations:  the 100th Day of school, Valentine’s Day, and President’s Day.  We had fun but there was also a lot to learn.  In reading, we have begun guided reading groups three times a week.  Your child is reading books on their reading level and sometimes brings them home for you to hear them read.  We are also continuing to work on the words in the vocabulary books.  Please practice those words every evening.

In math, we have learned to tell time by the hour and we are getting pretty good with addition to 10.  We go to the computer lab to play Every Day Math Games on the computer.  We will be sending home a password with your child so that you can play at home.

In science we learned about food in February and we will have a culminating activity with a trip to Herr’s Snack Factory on March 4. This month we will begin a unit on landforms.  The students will find out about mountains, deserts, prairies, beaches, and forests.

All the children can zip their own coats.  We would love for everyone to be able to tie his or her own shoes.  Please practice this over the next couple of weeks.
