WRESTLING CERTIFICATION CLINIC
The Weight Certification Clinic for 2012-13 will be held on November 26 at North East High School beginning at 6:30 p.m.
As proscribed by MPSSAA regulations, Maryland public school wrestlers must have their minimum weight class certified prior to their first match. This involves two steps. First, each wrestler must have a body fat analysis, which includes a determination of what the wrestler would weigh if he achieved a 7% level of body fat (12% for females). Second, a physician’s signature is required to certify the wrestler’s minimum weight class, based on the results of the body fat analysis. Wrestlers may not recertify to a lower weight class after their first match.
For more information, contact the athletic director at your child's school or print out the forms below.
The 14 weight classes approved by the committee for 2011-12 are as follows:
106 (pounds), 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 170, 182, 195, 220 and 285.

Concussions
Concussions in Sports...What You Need to Know
Proper education on the signs, symptoms, prevention and treatment of concussions is a major health and safety issue with interscholastic athletics. Concussions have the ability to show signs not just right after a bump, blow or jolt to the head or body but days or even weeks after the occurrence. This sec tion of the MPSSAA Heath and Safety site is dedicated to providing the most up-to-date resources on concussion management for coaches, parents and student-athletes.
