PREK LETTER

Dear Parents,                                                        August 30, 2007

Welcome to Pre-K! My name is Justine Quirk, and along with Mrs. Bonnie Hokanson and Mrs. Lori Griest, our Paraeducators, I will be working with your child in Room 16 here at Perryville Elementary. Prior to this, my eighth year at PES, I taught in both Pennsylvania and Delaware. I also ran a small family childcare center in my home for several years. All in all, I have 27 years experience working with young children. I am looking forward to spending time with your child. Please don’t ever hesitate to bring to my attention any concerns or questions you may have.

If you haven’t yet sent in the following supplies, please do so when you can.

  • Backpack
  • 1 box tissues
  • 1 liquid soap (pump bottle or refill bottle)
  • gluesticks
  • old socks (this as a new request! We will use them as erasers for chalk and white boards)
  • If you chose an “apple” donation, you can send it in any time –
    thank you

Just a few reminders to help us get off to a good start:

  1. Pre-K hours are 12:50 to 3:40  (except for Wednesdays – 12:00 to 1:50)
  2. Please check your child’s backpack for important papers everyday. If you have a concern, comment or question please send us a note in your child’s folder – we check it everyday.
  3. Our classroom temperature can vary, so dress your child accordingly – layers work well.
  4. We try to go outside every day. Please make sure your child wears appropriate clothing, including shoes/sneakers (no sandals, please).
  5. If your child is a bus rider, please be courteous and inform the bus driver if your child will not be riding the bus on any given day. You can call transportation ahead of time (410-996-5420), or simply “wave off” the bus as it approaches your stop.

Something new for Pre-K this year – we will be going to the Media Center every Friday! Your child will have the opportunity to check out a book. Please return it the following Friday.

Other information regarding Language Arts and Math theme units will come home in the coming weeks.
