Message from the Principal...

I would like to welcome everyone to the 2009-2010 school year. We have had a very productive summer in preparing for the return of our students. Our enrollment is now at 575 students and we are excited to have all students here working each day to meet with success. I ask for the continued support of all of our parents as we strive each day to challenge and support our students to work hard and learn. Your active participation in their learning will help all students improve and have a wonderful experience each day at Perryville Middle School.

We have many exciting activities planned for our students throughout the year. Please communicate with your child’s teachers to make sure there is a clear understanding of all expectations as we progress through the year. It is critical that we maintain an open line of communication so that we can cooperatively support our students. Our teachers are anxious for the year and looking forward to the many challenges that lie ahead. Working together, we can support our students and watch them grow.

Please plan to support Perryville Middle throughout the year with your support and presence at school events. Active participation from our parents will allow us to continue to grow and improve so that our students benefit from this collaboration and will achieve success. If during the year you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school and seek the appropriate support to improve the situation.

I look forward to another great year at Perryville Middle School. Thank you for your continued support of our students and staff.

Message from the Assistant Principals...

Welcome back to a new and exciting school year.  We look forward to meeting all the new student faces as well as getting re-acquainted with the old.

We hope to continue our success with our school climate initiatives, including PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports), school spirit activities and special incentives such as our Triple Crown honor.  PVMS has shown considerable growth in our goal to be a safe, inviting, and productive environment each and every day.  Our PBIS program is centered around living the “Perryville Pledge:” Be Responsible, Be Safe, Be Respectful.”  Over the last two years, this program has grown, and as a result, behavior and attendance have greatly improved.

We have worked hard this summer to schedule students in classes to assist them in meeting with success.  Please help us in our efforts to make sure students are completing and turning in work.  Homework is important and does count.  There will be an increased focus on homework and classwork and its completion throughout the year.  Stay tuned for further information on our new “ZIP” Program (Zero Isn’t Permitted).

As we start a new year, we are rested and excited to “hit the ground running.”  We hope that the students are as well.  Please contact us at dhastings@ccps.org (Grades 6 all and Grade 8 last names A-K) and/or hspangler@ccps.org (Grade 7 all and Grade 8 last names L-Z) for any questions you may have for us.
