Message from our Principal...

Greetings from Perryville Middle! As I write this message, I am looking out into our new media center. The renovation project is coming to closure. We should have occupancy of all classrooms by the end of November. The remaining area of our building that we may be without is our media center. When spring returns, we may still have ground work taking place, but the remaining paving should have been completed. This project has gone very smoothly and that is due in large part to our faculty, students and community. All have been extremely supportive and flexible throughout this process. It will soon be over. I know that all of you were as excited to see the portable classrooms leave as I was to see them go. It was an exciting day to have all of our classrooms back under one roof!

As we move into the second marking period, please encourage your students to remain vigilant in their work efforts. It is critical that our students continue to work hard throughout the year so that we may gain a true picture of their abilities and skills. I encourage you to communicate with our staff at all times to maintain positive and ongoing dialogue to support our students. We will continue to work to provide a quality learning environment and opportunity for all students.

I would like to thank all of you who have shown up at our parent meeting nights. They have been very rewarding for me and I look forward to continuing our dialogue. I would like to invite everyone to attend our PTSO/parent meetings. I have shared many factors that relate to PVMS during the last two meetings. The topics have been budget, grades, school improvement process, adequate yearly progress (AYP) and No Child Left Behind (NCLB), renovation updates, math curriculum update and learning walk, discipline data and our data analysis process. We also discuss any other pertinent information relating to PVMS. Parents participate by asking questions and providing information and feedback. In our continuous improvement efforts, it is critical to have ongoing, open communication regarding PVMS. I invite all of you to join us for these meetings. We will send out reminder phone call for our next meeting.

I look forward to seeing everyone at our upcoming Student Led Conference Night on the 15th. Take care and let us know how we can assist in providing an excellent learning experience for your student.

Assistant Principal's News:

Our students love their Assistant Principal! They know that he's not a fan of this shade of green, so they thought they'd wear it for him! Wasn't that thoughtful? Thank you for being a good sport, Dr. Hastings!
