Welcome to another new school year at Rising Sun Elementary School! Students and parents can identify their homeroom teacher assignment starting on August 3 when class lists will be posted on the board in the lobby of the school. You may stop by and view the lists anytime after Monday, August 3.

I look forward to seeing parents and students at our annual “ Back to School” class visitation day on Tuesday, August 25. All families with last names starting with A – M are invited to visit from 2:30 – 3:00 and students with last names N – Z from 3:00 – 3:45. The purpose of this visit is for students to locate classroom so they are not confused on the first day of school August 26. Pre K and Kindergarten students will visit with their parents on the day of their individual conferences August 26, 27 and 28. the first day of school for Pre K and K students is Monday, August 31.

Rising Sun Elementary school continues to provide an excellent instructional program for students Pre – 5. We are currently upgrading and increasing our student technology usage of computers and Smart Boards in the classrooms, media center and in the art room. Our PTO officers have a full schedule of family events planned for the new school year.

Open House for grades Pre K, K Grades 3 and 5 is scheduled for Tuesday, September 15 at 6:00. Thursday, September 17 is Open House night for grades 1, 2 and 4 starting at 6:00. Parents are invited to visit the classroom, meet the teacher and receive information about your child’s curriculum.

I am confident that this will be an exciting, productive and fun filled school year for students. If you have concerns, questions or need information, please call the school between the hours of 9:00 and 3:00 daily. I will be happy to schedule a conference to meet with parents.
