It is hard to believe that the third marking period is over and we are entering the last marking period of the year! The students are really blossoming and making progress. They are amazing!

We have started Theme 9 in reading. The new alpha friend for next week is Edna Elephant for the letter  Ee.  This theme, Growing and Changing, is about how plants, animals and people grow and change. We have also been observing the changes that take place in the season of spring. The students have been so excited about seeing these changes. We are learning vocabulary words that are integrated in this theme. The following is a list of words that you can incorporate in your conversations at home.

In math we will be learning about measurement. We will be determining length and height. We will be using terms such as short, shorter, shortest, tall, taller, tallest, long, longer, longest, more, less, light, lighter, heavy, heavier. We will not be using a ruler to measure, but students will be able to identify a ruler as a tool to measure with and a scale to weigh objects.

All pre-k students are automatically promoted to kindergarten. You will not receive a kindergarten registration packet.

Enjoy a pleasant, warm spring weekend. Go on a spring walk and see what kind of spring changes your child can identify.
