Grade 5 News

It’s hard to believe that the 4th marking period has come upon us bringing us warmer days and busier schedules at school.  We are quickly coming to an end of the final days of elementary school.  Please encourage your child to push through the end of the year by checking that homework is being completed and quality work is being shown.

Our trip to the Baltimore Science Center was a lot of fun and we were able to make connections with our science unit on the solar system.  We visited the planetarium to see real life examples of what we have been studying.

We are also looking forward to our final field trip to Philadelphia on May 5, to learn more about the history of the Revolutionary War and the people who were involved.  Please be reminded that the students should be in school no later than 7:20AM so we can leave on time.  We will be returning at 4:45PM.  Please be here to pick your child up at that time.  If someone other than yourself is picking up your child, please be sure to give the information to your child’s teacher prior to the trip.  This request MUST be in writing.  Students should bring a bagged lunch.  All items need to be disposable.  Don’t forget to put your child’s name and teacher on the bag.  Please dress appropriate for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.  Cameras and souvenir money may be brought.

As a reminder, the 5th grade students will be learning about family life in the end of May.  Information has been sent home with your child for a parents day to preview the information.  Please contact the guidance office for more details.

Thank you for all of your support and encouragement throughout your child’s elementary school career.  The students have benefited from the constant encouragement and support from parents.
