The Town of Rising Sun covers an area of approximately 0.92 square miles.

There are 6.2 miles of local streets in the Town.

Center Square is the intersection of two State Routes (273 and 274).

The 135 streetlights in the Town insure safety at night.

The seven-mile water distribution system provides for domestic use and fire protection.

There are nine miles of sewer lines in the Town.

There is one municipal parking lot and on-street parking in and around the center of Town.

How Small Is the Town

Although twenty years ago our population was scarcely 800, presently we total approximately 1500 with a reason-able expectation that this figure could double in the next ten years and possibly triple in twenty.

Much more Importantly, the town of Rising Sun Is the business hub of a prosperous community of 7300 energetic and friendly people.

This fast population growth of the area is already evident and, with the steady influx of families moving from the over-developed Delaware area (17 miles to Newark, Delaware), the growth Is expected to continue at a fast pace in the future. For instance, over 100 single-family homes have been approved within the town limits, with many developments progressing in the rural areas.

A fairly recent survey has shown that of the eight incorporated towns In Cecil County, Rising Sun shows a sub-stantial increase in population. There must be a good reason.

Rising Sun is located in the north central part of Cecil County about one mile below the Mason and Dixon Line, on Rt. 273, bypassed by U.S. Rt. 1. We are six miles East of the Conowingo Dam and the Susquehanna River. Two Exits from 1-95 are, within six miles from here.
