Welcome to ScienceA message from Mr. Frank Cardo, Instructional Coordinator for Science Cecil County Public Schools’ Science Department is working to improve the quality, rigor, and relevance of your child’s science education. Curriculum changes are occurring at the elementary school level, the middle school level, and the high school level. These changes are being made to ensure that your child’s science education will prepare them for whatever future they hope to achieve. Many students are considering careers in one of the many science fields. We want to help all of our students receive the education in science that they will need to reach their goals. STEM is an initiative available to high school students who are especially interested in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. It is part of a national endeavor to develop and secure America’s leadership in those areas as we continue to strive toward international competitiveness. The STEM science program in Cecil County Public Schools is as academically challenging as anywhere in the state. The freshman science requirements are Honors Biology and Honors Chemistry. As a sophomore, the science requirements are Honors Physics and AP Biology. The junior and senior sciences are AP Physics and/or AP Chemistry. Science courses at Cecil College are also available for STEM students. Students interested in the STEM program should contact their local guidance counselor to design a program suitable to their needs. Please use the accompanying links to visit our programs at the different school levels. If you want to develop a plan of study for your child, please feel free to contact your local guidance office or my office.
