Our world is changing and everyone is becoming more interconnected.  We want our students to be college and career ready.  This means they will need to think, achieve and succeed.  Our fifth grade curriculum, which is based on the Common Core State Standards, will be just one stepping stone in preparing our students for the future as thoughtful contributors to a rapidly changing global economy. 

This year our fifth graders will be

*engaging in more rigorous, complex thinking across subjects

*completing research projects and citing sources accurately

*making informed opinions based on a variety of sources and hand-on learning experiences

*supporting argumentative writing with researched facts

*writing more in depth, authentic writing pieces

*exploring problems that do not always have one solution

*actively participating and exchanging ideas with their classmates in a cooperative group setting

*using technology tools to effectively access, integrate, evaluate, create and communicate information
