Math Homework

Expect math homework every night of the week, except Fridays. A study guide and/or pre-test will be provided to help students prepare for unit math tests. Spelling Homework

Spelling homework will be assigned every night of the week, except Fridays. Our spelling lists will correspond with the stories that we read, so we will NOT have a pre-test every Monday and a test every Friday. We will usually spend a week to a week and a half on each spelling list.

Students are given the freedom to choose their homework each night. Students may choose from the following options:
 ABC order
Write a story using at least 12 words
Write a poem using at least 12 words
 Make a word search
Make a crossword puzzle, providing clues
 Rainbow write
Sailboat words using at least 12 words
Write words with shaving or whipped cream (requires parent signature in homework journal)
Type words on the computer Flash cards

It is extremely important that third graders know their basic math facts. In order to accomplish this, students will be required to practice their facts for 5 minutes each night (requires parent signature in homework journal). We will practice addition and subtraction flash cards until December. Beginning in January, students will be expected to practice multiplication facts for 5 minutes each night.
