It has been a busy, busy summer! I blinked and  Here we are back at school already. I took five graduate classes and am ready to implement all of the cool new things I’ve learned. I am so excited because I know we are going to have an outstanding school year. The unbeatable fifth grade duo of Miss. Ryan and Ms. Wagner, stands ready to conquer the 2009-2010 curriculum with a vengeance. Miss. Ryan will be the math lead teacher for both classes, while I focus on science and social studies. Our master team of  educators includes Mrs. Ayers, and Mrs. Wooddell who will aid in differentiating the curriculum to meet the needs of all learners.

We have six main themes in language arts the first of which is Nature’s Fury. We will use text, video clips, songs, personal experiences and the web to learn more about the power of nature and it’s effect on people and property.

We will be  doing so many interesting, higher level, real-world activities especially in science. We will be interacting with our school yard environment, taking parts of it back to a native state ridding it of invasive non-native species working hard to earn  green school status, documenting every step of our process. This is real science in action, integrated across the curriculum.

In social studies we will focus on Native Americans, Explorers, Colonization of the New World, Events Leading to the Revolution, the Revolutionary War, and The Constitution and Formation of the New Government.

We will learn using student interests, music, movement, laughter and technology.

I will be using this web page to communicate and share information so please check back regularly.
