• What Is It?

Arts Express is a program that allows us to offer fine arts opportunities to groups of Cecil County Public Schools (CCPS) students.  This is part of a Fine Arts Initiative Grant from MSDE that funds various enrichment programs in Fine Arts. This program has provided transportation to a number of events over the years to hundreds of public school students.

Listed below are the offerings for the 2017-2018 school year!

  • Juried Art Exhibition

In October, each middle and high school are given the opportunity to send students to the Cecil County Arts Council to view this free exhibit.  The students peruse this exhibit with a questionnaire to complete, followed by a discussion of the exhibit.

In the 2014 exhibit, three CCPS teachers, Doug Barry, Carol Mangano, and Jennifer Walters, had works exhibited also!  It was exciting for the students to see their teachers as artists!

  • Photography Show

In November, each high school is invited to send students to view the Photography Show at Cecil County Arts Council.  This is also a free exhibit with transportation provided by Arts Express.

  • Spring Art Show Visitation

In May, each elementary, middle, and high school is invited to send students to view the Spring Art Show at the Cecil County Administration Building. The Spring Art Show is an exhibit of artworks by students from each CCPS elementary, middle, and high school.

  • The CREATE program (Community Resources to Enhance the Arts and Team-teaching Efforts) provides elementary, middle, and high schools to visit Cecil College's Stone Milburn Theater and see a production.  Two performances occur during the school year, and is provided by one of our key constituents, the Cecil Dancenter.  Students will see their production of "The Nutcracker" in December 2017 and "The Little Mermaid" in April 2018.
