Drug Education and Prevention Lessons
-
The Botvin Life Skills program that we use is a research-validated substance abuse prevention program proven to reduce the risks of alcohol, tobacco, drug abuse, and violence by targeting the major social and psychological factors that promote the initiation of substance use and other risky behaviors. Students in grade 3-10 in Cecil County are currently receiving this program, anywhere from 2 to 8 lessons ranging on topics from self esteem to risk taking, depending on the grade level. All lessons are taught with the same overall goal: to prevent drug use and include drug specific information, as required through the Start Talking Maryland Act effective in all Maryland counties beginning July 1st, 2017.
