    May 20, 2018

    What Happened This Week?

Under the direction of Mrs. Brandi Vogeley, Ms. Aleesha Noel and Ms. Madeleine
Clifton, our band, chorus and orchestra students performed at their Spring Concert on Wednesday evening. Their performance was excellent, and the growth these young musicians have made this year is exceptional. Congratulations!

Unfortunately, the Blue Rocks game scheduled for Tuesday was postponed due to inclement weather. With a packed calendar for the remainder of the year, we will not be able to reschedule the event. We will give each student a ticket, which can be used for any other game this season. We thank our business partner, Delmarva, for generously sponsoring this event.

    Attention All 8th Grade Parents!

A Farewell slideshow will be shown at the 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony.  This slideshow will include photos from all 3 years the current 8th graders were at EMS, including any baby pictures that were submitted for the Yearbook.

If you would like to share a photo of your child to add to the slideshow, please email them to Mrs. Shortall at lshortall@ccps.org.  These photos could be special accomplishments, baby pictures, sporting pictures or special times with friends.  When sending your pictures, please include the name of your child. The deadline for submitting pictures is Friday, June 8. Please email Mrs. Shortall with any questions.

As a reminder to all Trailblazers, permission slips for the May 25th trip to Launch are due to teachers by May 23rd. Congratulations on reading 100 Gold Days!

The 6th grade end of year trip to Brandywine Picnic Park is June 7. Students MUST return permission slips and money ($25) to EMS by May 23, 2018 NO EXCEPTIONS. Contact Miss Glinka or Mrs. Botha with questions.

The 7th graders will be going to Brandywine Picnic Park on May 29th for an end-of-year trip! Departure is 9:00 am and we will return to school by 2:00 pm. The cost is $25, is non-refundable, and is due on May 23rd. We hope all will attend!

Free sports physicals will be offered to all 8th grade students who wish to play a sport in any season next year as 9th graders. The date of the physicals is Tuesday, June 5. Please see the attached advertisement for more information.

Eighth grade promotion will be on Wednesday, June 13 at 6:00 pm. As we get closer to that evening, specific details will be shared, but we wanted to get the date and time out so families can plan to attend!

We are planning an 8th grade BBQ on Thursday, June 7 from 3:30pm-5:30pm to celebrate with all of our 8th grade students and provide an opportunity for them to reflect on their middle school years together. We are working on the event specifics and will communicate everything to students as soon as they are confirmed.

    Did You Know?

In partnership with Brookbend Interiors, we would like to start a Food Bank at EMS and a summer food program to provide nutritious food to families that need assistance. If your family could benefit from some additional food this summer, please contact an administrator, school counselor or the school nurse for more information.
