Parent Resource Center for Special Education (PRC)


    The CCPS Parent Resource Center for Special Education (PRC) exists to provide a resource for parents, educators, and the community that will benefit all youth with disabilities from birth to 21 years of age. The center provides training, resources, and linkages between the school and the community.

     Staffed by parents and educators, the center activities include but are not limited to the following:

    • Offer support to parents who need someone to talk to on an individual basis in a confidential, supportive atmosphere.
    • Refer families to local support groups, workshops, advocacy groups and recreational opportunities. 
    • Provide an opportunity for families to network and share ideas and experiences.
    • Link experienced parents to parents of newly identified children with similar special needs.
    • Seek ways to encourage and strengthen communication between parents and school personnel.
    • Maintain a lending library of books and DVD's on a wide range of special education topics such as types of disabilities, parenting, social skills, advocacy and special education law. 

     The CCPS Parent Resource Center for Special Education is a cooperative program that includes the:
