Transportation

    • Arrival/Dismissal
      • All buses should arrive prior to the official start of the school day
      • Outside areas of the school building should be properly supervised
      • Students should not board the school bus until the official end of the school day and should be monitored by school staff until such time

     

    • Bus Assignments
      • Assignments are sent from transportation in August via postcards to families
      • Requests for changes must be approved through the transportation department

     

    • Bus Evacuation Drills
      • 3 times a year (front of bus, back of bus, split)
      • Don’t forget mid-day runs and car riders on field trips

     

    • Bus Driver Training
      • Coordinate date with Anna Tichnell
      • Provide driver’s with an invitation

     

    • Bus Accident or Emergency - PS Bus Roster Report - login to PS, System Reports, Miscellaneous section, name of report is bus information
      • Dispatch two school officials, who will report to the incident commander at the accident site
      • Take cell phone, bus seating chart, CERT binder, and two lists of all students generated from Power School, contact numbers, CCPS policy EEACE (Management of a School Bus Accident)
      • Transportation will meet you there (transportation takes lead with bus and admin takes lead with students)
      • Check student accountability using the accountability form.

     

    • Field Trips
      • Teachers request a trip to administration with curricular connections identified
      • Teacher complete field trip cost estimator as provided by transportation to the building administrator
      • Enter on-line field trip request to secure bus: Field Trip Request
      • Permission slips are requested from the designated office personnel and distributed
      • Money is collected for the trip and placed in the field trip envelope which is hand delivered by the TEACHER to the lead secretary or bookkeeper
      • Requesting Coach Bus: Coach Buses

     

    • Cancellation of field trips
        • Weather-related: Administrators should use their best judgment. Specific examples for cancellation include: winds in excess of 20 mph, tornado watch, temperatures under 20 degrees or over 90 degrees for outdoor activities, the presence of thunder or lightning, winter precipitation, excessive rain.
        • Presence of a safety risk as determined by Executive Director
        • In the event of a cancellation student refunds must be issued

      • Bus drivers must turn in seating charts and update as changes are made

     

    • Special Transportation
      • For students requiring specialized transportation as per their IEP complete the special transportation form found on the transportation website and submit to Dan Jester, Transportation Specialist
