Cecil County Public Schools offers students who turn five between September 2 and October 15, the opportunity to be tested for Early Admission into Kindergarten.  Students MUST turn five on or before October 15, to be eligible for early admission.  Parents should contact the school, let them know they are interested in Early Admission to Kindergarten, and complete an application for PreKindergarten.  The completion of the PreKindergarten application is for information purposes only. Once the application is completed, the parent should contact the Early Childhood Department at 410/996-5039 to receive a packet to be completed for early admission.

The intent of early admission into kindergarten is to make kindergarten available to younger students who demonstrate outstanding or exceptional capabilities and are capable of working in a classroom with older children.  The standards for early admission to kindergarten are very high to ensure that children are not frustrated with the advanced placement.

Students will be evaluated at the end of June and parents will be notified of the decision in July.  PLEASE NOTE:  A denial for early admission to kindergarten does not mean that a child will be automatically accepted into the PreKindergarten program.  The standard application procedure for PreKindergarrten must be followed in order to be considered for admission into the PreKindergarten program.
