Tiger face Welcome to Rising Sun Elementary and a new school year! There is nothing more exciting than the smiles and sounds of children being back in school. I recently read a quote which stated, “Progress is impossible without change.” Well, this is certainly a year for change as we look forward to all students making progress. Our teachers will be implementing new curriculum in language arts and mathematics. Students will spend a great deal of time listening to, reading, and responding to authentic literature. The enVision math series includes a student journal, manipulatives, and a technology component. Based on our discipline trend data from the last three years we saw the need to make some changes to PBIS (PAWS). We continue to reinforce children’s positive behavior, emphasizing the use of reinforcing teacher language as our students strive to, “Respect Self-Respect Others-Respect the Environment.” Change takes time, so please hang in there with us as we work hard to do what is best for all children. We want RSES to be a place where children feel happy and engaged and where parents/guardians feel welcome and involved. We look forward to collaborating with this great community as we work together to make sure every student has a great year!
