Welcome to the 2021 – 2022 school year at Rising Sun Elementary School and, hopefully, a year that we return us to a normal school experience. The past 15 months have been challenging for all of us but it has been particularly challenging for our students. It is our intent to return to a normal school process so that we can help our students recover and continue to grow to be the most successful students that they can be.
Joining us on the adventure is our new Assistant Principal, Mrs. Marian Martino. Mrs. Martino has spent the past 18 years as a teacher at North East Elementary School and brings new skills and experiences to Rising Sun. As you may know, Mrs. Fortune has been promoted to be the Principal of Charlestown Elementary School and we wish her much success in that new assignment.
We have been busy this summer preparing the building for the new school year. All of the rooms are being thoroughly cleaned and supplies and materials are being ordered. Approximately 200 new library books have been purchased so our students have new books to explore and enjoy. We thank our community partners at the Rising Sun American Legion who have donated funds to make this possible.
Please know that I value the home and school partnership that is so critical in the success of our students. If you have any questions, I encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher(s). If you have general questions about our school, please call the office. Our goal is to uphold the great reputation of Rising Sun Elementary School. Best Wishes to all for a great school year!
