    Book Club Mrs. Dyar Book Club meets about once a marking period in the media center during a Wednesdayrevisit.  Students must have a signed permission slip to participate in the club. Information can be found on the permission slip.
    Buddy System Ms. Herr & Ms. Meisel

    The Buddy System is dedicated to raising awareness about students with disabilities at Rising Sun High School.  We strive to ensure equality throughout the school.  By learning about a variety of disabilities and working with students, we hope to help everyone become more comfortable around each other.  This club exists to increase the acceptance of students with disabilities and to promote friendships.  At Rising Sun High School and in the community, we are “Friends Helping Friends”.

    Concert Band Mr. Ayala Concert Band meets as a class, as well as a few after school rehearsals.  The band performs Christmas Holiday Concerts, Spring Concerts and for graduation, annually.  Students can also demonstrate their skills by auditioning for all county honors band and performing in county and state solo and ensemble festivals.
    Drama Club Mrs. Garrett They produce the winter musical or play after school- all actors, technicians, and musicians welcome!
    Envirothon/Surfrider Club Mr. Stickler
    Envirothon - Learn about local environmental topics and participate in competition at Fair Hill in April.  (Oct, March & April Field Trips to Fair Hill)  info at http://mdenvirothon.org/ or email gstickler@ccps.org

    Fellowship of Christian Athletes Mrs. Muzzey Meets every Wednesday morning at 7AM in room 245.
    Film Club Ms. Dyar In the Film Club, students work together to develop original short films while also learning many aspects of the filmmaking process.  Students do not need any equipment or filmmaking experience.  Everything that is needed will be provided.  The club meets in the media center on Wednesdays from dismissal to 4:45 pm.  Students can ride the Twilight Bus home for free.
    Gay-Straight Alliance Mrs. Garrett & Mrs. Pruss The GSA Meets every Wednesday during revisit.
    Latinos en Fuego

    This club that meets every other Wednesday during revisit to investigate, share Hispanic culture.
    Library Advisory Committee Ms. Dyar The Library Advisory Committee meets in the media center during revisit on most Wednesdays.  Members plan and work on various projects that promote reading (including recommending new books) and improve the media center's services and programs to all students.
    Marching Band Mr. Ayala Marching Band performs at halftime during football games, as well as in the stands.  The band also competes in marching band contests during the fall, usually on Saturdays.  The parade band performs annually at the North East Christmas parade, and the Rising Sun Little League parade, as well as, the Rising Sun Sunfest parade.

    • Students will be INVITED to join NHS at the beginning of their junior year provided the following conditions are met:
      • Weighted cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
      • No office referrals for dishonorable behavior (cheating, fighting, etc.)
    • Applications will be given to students who meet the conditions.  This does not guarantee acceptance into NHS.  Each application will be scored on the rubric which looks mainly at a student's extra-curricular activities and leadership.
    • The National Honor Society at RSHS is highly active and heavily involved in our school functions and helping various events in the community around us.  It is a requirement for our members to achieve a specified number of volunteer hours every year.  We also expect grades and behavior to remain within the required standard.
