📚 2025–26 Coach Certification Classes

All classes are in-person and require advance registration. You must be a confirmed CCPS coach to attend.

❤️ CPR/AED Certification (90 minutes)

📧 Certification will be issued by the American Heart Association and sent to the email address you provide at the class. Please check your spam folder if you don’t receive it.

🩺 Care & Prevention of Athletic Injuries (Full Course)

📅 Dates: November 17-19, 2025 (Monday-Wednesday)
🕔 Time: 5:00–9:00 PM each night
📍 Location: Elkton High School – F107
🎓 Credit: 15 hours (1 MSDE credit)

📅 Dates: February 18-20, 2026 (Wednesday-Friday)
🕔 Time: 5:00–9:00 PM each night
📍 Location: Elkton High School – F107
🎓 Credit: 15 hours (1 MSDE credit)

This course is required for all new public school coaches in Maryland. It covers:

  • 🧠 Injury recognition and treatment
  • 🚨 Emergency procedures
  • ⚖️ Liability and legal issues
  • 🧍‍♂️ Mini anatomy lab
  • 🩹 Wrapping and taping techniques

👨‍🏫 Instructors: ATI Physical Therapy & Bill Waibel (retired PE teacher, Joppatowne High)
🧤 Note: Hands-on participation is required – please dress accordingly.
📌 Attendance all 3 nights is mandatory.
👥 Class size is limited to 20 participants.

📝 Mandatory Requirements for All CCPS Coaches

The following sessions and certifications are required for all coaches and do not require registration:

  • Winter Sports:

    ⏰ Time: See your Athletic Director

If you are unable to attend your season’s in-person Rules Clinic, you must complete the online version:

Select “Maryland” and your sport to begin.

🧠 Required NFHS Online Courses (Every Two Years)

All coaches must be recertified in CPR/AED and complete the following NFHS courses at http://www.nfhslearn.com/:

  • 🔗 Heat Illness Prevention
  • 🔗 Concussion in Sports
  • 🔗 Sudden Cardiac Arrest
  • 🔗 Bullying, Hazing, and Inappropriate Behaviors
