Information on Support from Maryland Coalition of Families

Maryland Coalition of Families (MCF) is a statewide organization that provides free support to families dealing with mental health, substance use and problem gambling issues.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began last March, rates of drug and alcohol use among adolescents have risen substantially. According to a recent study of adolescents, many were still using substances with peers via technology (31.6%) and, shockingly, even face to face (23.6%). During this time of quarantine, the risk of overdose remains a very real concern. We want to make sure that our youth and parents are aware of Maryland’s Good Samaritan law, which provides legal protections for anyone assisting in drug or alcohol overdose situations.

MCF would like to provide information on services offered through MCF for families dealing with substance use issues and also provide information on the Good Samaritan Law. Distributing this information through the Peachjar system for your school will reach many families and increase awareness of both the Good Samaritan Law and resources available in our community.  Thank you for partnering with us to spread the word about this important issue and potentially saving lives.

Please feel free to contact me at (443) 480-2966 or Thank you for all your consideration.

Warm regards,
